“My belief is that the various religious traditions have great potential to increase compassion, the sense of caring for one another, and the spirit of reconciliation. However, I believe that a human being, without religious faith, can be a very good person - sincere, a good heart, having a sense of concern for others - without belief in a particular religious faith.”
- Dalai Lama via kim (via soupsoup) I love this quote. I’ve definitely posted it before but it bears repeating. If he gets it - and we’re talking about someone who is believed to be the reincarnation of ancient being of spiritual enlightenment himself - if he can accept this, that religion and spirituality is not necessary to be a morally good person, what the fuck is wrong with the christians who don’t get it? Seriously!??! I also love how he says religious traditions have the potential to increase compassion, caring etc. Not that they do that essentially or unequivocally, because any person who studies history knows otherwise and to believe so in this day and age is just ignorant.
